Do you remember this Canadian guy? It’s Graham Agassiz from Kamloops. We shot some photos together the past October. He’s quite young but he has a great style and he’s a very strong rider. I hope we can shoot together this year too. Take a look to this video, shot in Kamloops, very close to his house. Sick!

If you can speak German and if you have at least 2 days off on the 14th-15th of July I would be glad to meet you in Steinegg, a small village close to Bozen (Südtirol, Italy), for a two days photo seminar. Don’t think at it like me pointing at the blackboard and you sitting the whole day in silence and trying to pass the Toniolo-examination at the end. Bring your camera, possibly a SRL, bring your bike and get ready for 2 days of biking and learning how to shoot your favourite subjects.
You can also spend a whole week at cozy Steineggerhof, the hotel where the seminar is held. Kurt, the boss, will bring you around on his beautiful singletracks, from Bozen to the Dolomites. Prices and conditions.
See you there!

The plans for the next mountain bike season are getting ready. Schleyer and Wade will be showing up at the end of April fot the Garda Festival. Going for a shoot in the Dolomites with Richie and Holger Mayer, then chill out (I hope) at the Lake before leaving to Sardinia with Wade and Mario Lenzen. I hope Matt Hunter will join us , it would be fun hitting the road with him, too. Sardinia is a sick place, the location offers so much and it has been never been really photographed - in a freeride way. The locals are already preparing the locations, I can’t wait to meet them, to have some fresh caught fish and some Cannonau (red wine).
If you want to read a shot interview with me pick up a copy of Pedaliero Nr. 12. There is a portfolio of mine there. A photo of mine landed as a POD on Pinkbike, don’t ask me how because I don’t know it. Thanks to the crew for choosing it and to the users for the nice comments.
Last week I was at Canyon’s new headquarter party. Sick building and lots of nice people. We are planning together a big trip this year too, after the success of the Norway one (published in so many countries!). If you’re flying to Aalesund (Norway) you will see one of the shots at the baggage claim. On the 20th of April I am going to be at the German Kranked 7 premiere in Munich, organized by Holger & Karen. Time to meet lots of biking buddies after the winter season!

This morning I went to my computer to check the emails and I found the MB Action Mag newsletter saying I could download the new issue. I could already see the small jpeg with the cover: Norway! But the best part of it had to come. I’ve been working with Ryan Cleek on a portfolio of mine. I expected a maximum of 6-8 pages. Well, the MB Action guys published 16 (!) pages of my photos, with a short biography about me. That’s the largest article I’ve ever got on a mag. The title: “Dream Vacations: the world’s most beautiful trails”. You can find Nepal, Norway, the Dolomites, Lake Garda, Austria and the Canary Islands in it. Thanks to the editors!
Thanks also to Christophe Jobic of Velo Vert (France). In the March issue you can find a shot of mine on the cover - Daniel Schaefer table topping on the Brenner Pass, Italy - and a 8 pages story about my trip to Canada, translated to French by my Dad (thanks too!).
Well, the mountain bike season can start!

Some stuff came out in the last 2 issues of Bike Magazin (D): Norway, Sanremo and the Dolomites. Two photostories with a nice layout, take a look if you can.
Now I am planning the trips for this year. The winter, again, sucks in the Alps. We have so much nice weather that I start thinking the Sahara desert is coming closer. You can ski on firn at the beginning of February!
We should seriously think of selling all our the cars and just ride bikes to make something against global warming….

Christophe Jobic, chief editor of french Velo Vert, likes my photos. I think, at least. He chose 4 pics for his 2008 calendar.

Yesterday afternoon was spent shooting the new 2008 Amplid products at Peter’s, in his lonely and snow covered farmhouse close to Schliersee. Amplid has nice stuff, you will see it at the ISPO show on the end of January. They have a cool blog too.

Long time since I wrote something in here. In the meantime I moved servers, went do Sweden for 8 days, got back home and found lots of snow, like today!!!!! This is a pic I took with my mobile. In a couple of years I won’t need any camera anymore, just my phone.

The 3 riders are Peter and Anian of Amplid and Tom, a local. During our second ride the sky opened and the sun came out.
If you want to see some Norway photos take a look at the new Canyon Bikes catalog, also the cover is taken from that shooting. Rocky Mountain sent a postcard to his friends with a photo of mine on it. Specialized bought some photos of Matt Hunter I shot in Canada and in the Alps during 2007. And if you are tiring of bikes and snowboards just take a look at the playmates in Ischgl…

Finally I’m at home. The trip to Canada was amazing, take a look at the photos. We travelled from Vancouver to Manning Park for a weekend with Wade and his friends, then to Whistler to Richie’s Schley, back to Vancouver - Wade has such a cozy place we couldn’t say no, especially for the cheap and fantastic sushi restaurant around the corner - where I visited the Rocky Mountain factory, and finally to Kamloops to visit Matt and meet another very talented rider named Graham Agassiz. I could write a long story about this trip, but I hope you will read it in the magazines in the next months. The riders are simply unbelievable.
Back to Europe my family and I rested for one night at home - try to do that with a jet-lagged one year old kid - and left for Lake Garda, where we spent 6 days. I had to photograph my part for the next Lagobiker. And I found a new-old trail, now better ridable since somebody cleaned it.
In the meantime Singletrack (UK) published 8 pages of Norway photos in its photo issue, Freeride Mag (D) some shots of Wade and Matt in Livigno and Ischgl, TuttoMTB (I) the entire Alpine road trip with them. And if you see AD italian edition with a snowboard photo, that’s mine! I’m still wondering what they did with a powder shot in a architecture mag….
